1. What do I get for my entry fee?

For the 5-mile run/walk, you get an even t-shirt and bib with timing chip.


For the 1-mile kids fun run, participants receive an event t-shirt and a finishers medal once they cross the finish line.


2. How do I register for the races?

Go to and click on the "Registration" link. Online registration will close on July 11, 2018. After that, we will offer on-site registration on Thursday and Friday, July 12th and 13th, from 4-7 PM at Hubert Fry Center/Rock Creek at the Tennessee Riverpark during packet pickup. WE WILL BE OFFERING REGISTRATION ON-SITE ON RACEDAY. 


3. How much does the race cost?

Chattanooga Heroes 5 Mile Run/Walk-

through March 31, 2019 - $30

through July 12, 2019 - $35

On-Site Registration - $40

Kids 1 Mile run  - Anytime- $15


4. How do I know for sure if I am registered?

5. Will I receive a confirmation email?

Yes. Our online registration host,, will email you a confirmation after you register. If you don’t see it in your inbox, please check your spam or better yet add to your email address book before you register.


6. What is packet pickup?

You must pick up your race packet at the packet pickup location. Your race packet contains your race bib and timing device which you must have to run!


7. Where is packet pickup and what are the hours?

Packet pick up will be Thursday, July 11th, and Friday, July 12th at the Hubert Fry Center/ Rock Creek at the Tennessee Riverpark from 4:00 - 7:00 PM. 


8. How do I get my race packet?

Race packets will not be mailed. You must come to Packet Pickup in order to get your race packet and you will need to present your confirmation email. The race packet will have your race number and timing device and you will not be allowed on the course Saturday morning without these.


9. Can I pick my race packet up on race morning, Saturday, July 13?

Yes! There will be race day packet pickup and registration however, we suggest that you pick up your packet during packet pickup prior to the day of the race.


10. Can someone else pick up my packet for me?

Yes - we don’t have a problem with that, but you must present a copy of a photo ID of that person along with their confirmation email. And make sure everyone is wearing the correct timing chip if you are picking up multiple packets. Don’t get the packets mixed up.


11. What is in my race packet?

Your race bib, timing device, and event t-shirt. You MUST have your race bib and timing device in order to run the race.


12. What happens if I lose my timing device?

All participants will be issued timing devices that will be distributed during packet pickup. You will need to contact the timer and give them your approximate finishing time and they will be able to cross-reference their manual timing.


13. Where can we park for the races?

You can park at the Tennessee Riverpark. Please follow the signs, only the East entrance will be open (by Chattanooga State). See the parking map here.


14. Where does the race start and finish?

The race starts at the Naval Operational Support Center/Marine Corps Reserve Center and finishes at the Hubert Fry Center/Rock Creek at the Tennessee Riverpark.


15. Can I register on race day?

Yes, we will offer registration on race day at the event.


16. Do you take credit cards for registration at Packet Pickup?

Yes, however cash or check is preferred.


17. What are the event start times?


Chattanooga Heroes 5 Mile Run/Walk - 8:00 a.m.

Chattanooga Heroes Kids 1-mile Fun Run - 10:00 a.m. (subject to change)



18. What sports drinks and gels will be available on the course?

We will be serving water and Powerade at both aid stations on the course.  


19. How do I get a refund if I cannot attend?

Due to the upfront nature of event costs, we have a uniform policy of no refunds, transfers or deferrals to a future year. We know that plans change and unexpected things come up, but we feel it is most fair to apply a uniform policy to all, instead of an arbitrary line of who merits a refund and who doesn't. Thank you for understanding.


20. What is NOT allowed on the course?

In-line skates, bicycles, unauthorized vehicles and unregistered runners are prohibited on the course. No pets or smoking on the course PLEASE! Any participant breaking one of these rules will be removed from the course, disqualified and will not receive finisher’s amenities. These rules are mandated by our insurance policy and board of directors and are for your safety and the safety of the thousands of other runners on the course.

22. What if I lose something at the race?

Shoot us an email and we will try and reunite you with your items.  Items that are discarded along the race route will NOT be returned to the Lost and Found. They will be donated to local charities.


23. Why haven’t I received a confirmation email?

In most cases, the culprit is your spam filter that blocks our emails.


24. What does my registration fee go to?

Registration fees help cover the cost of the event expenses, which we are keeping as low as possible. All profits after expenses are paid, will go to help fund a permanent memorial near the NOSC, as designated by the families of the five servicemen.


25. What will the weather be like on race day? What if it is raining?

We are not meteorologists! These are just averages compiled by folks much smarter than us.

Normal High: 90

Normal Low: 70

The race will take place if it is raining. The race will only be canceled/delayed if weather conditions pose an imminent danger to our participants.


26. What time should I arrive on race morning?

We recommend arriving at the Tennessee Riverpark no later than 7:00 a.m.  (6:30 is even better). You will have a short walk from the parking lot to the Fry Center and/or the start line. 


27. Is there a time limit? Why?

The 5-mile run/walk time limit is 1 hour and 45 minutes. This is to ensure the safety of our participants and because the Chattanooga Police will only close the roads for the course for a certain number of hours.


28. Where will the water stations, medical aid stations, and portalets be located on the course?

Yes, there will be three aid stations on the course located at miles 1.75, 3, and 4. There will also be first aid personnel monitoring the course via bicycles. Please see our course map located on our web site for more info.


29. Is chip time or gun time used to determine awards?

Gun time will be used to determine the top three finishers for male and female participants.


30. Will there be awards?

Awards will be given to the top three male and top three female finishers overall. We will not be doing age group awards.


Each kid that participates in the one-mile fun run will receive a medal once they cross the finish line.


31. Will there be an awards ceremony?

Yes. We will present the awards to the top three male and top three females at 10:30 AM at the Hubert Fry Center/Rock Creek.
